In this short story by Washington Irving, schoolmaster Ichabod Crane comes to the town of Sleepy Hollow to work as a school teacher and he falls in love with a Katrina, a young woman from the town. In his attempts to win her heart we will find himself involved in a ghost story with a headless horseman. The legend of Sleepy Hollow is a creepy horror story set in New York in the 19th Century.

This edition also contains travel essays, tales of romance, and literary musings by Washington Irving, as well as an introduction by Prof. Wayne Franklin.

A film based on this story was released in 1999, directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci. It won an Oscar for Best Art Direction-Set Decoration as well as other awards.
